Julia Long Julia first turned to yoga for the athletic benefits, but soon realized that there is way more to yoga than only a physical practice! She grew to appreciate the multi-faceted practice that can help all people no matter their activity level. She believes in a strong practice with modifications so everyone may also discover the mysteries of yoga for the mind, body, and soul.
Julia is a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, and did her foundational training in PranaShanti’s Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in 2013. She has expanded her yoga education through many immersions: Chakra Yoga, Yin Teacher Training, Advanced Yin Yoga, Max Strom’s Happiness Workshops and is certified in Yoga Nidra through the California College of Ayurveda.
Julia is one of the few certified Yoga Nidra instructors in the Ottawa area. In addition to the traditional Hatha and Hot Flow classes she leads at PranaShanti, she leads regular Yoga Nidra meditation classes and various workshops combining her holistic trainings and her fitness and athletic knowledge. Julia also offers one-on-one Yoga Nidra sessions through PranaShanti’s Wellness Centre.
Julia is also CanFitPro certified (Canadian Fitness Professionals), and a Zumba Instructor, licensed in Strong by Zumba (a High Intensity Interval Tempo training synced to music). She is a fitness instructor with the City of Ottawa (Zumba, spin, and yoga). She is herself a runner, cyclist and swimmer and has volunteered as a swimming official for provincial competitions.
Julia offers classes & workshops in the Ottawa Ontario Region. She has also taught at resorts in Jamaica and Mexico. She regularly attends ashrams in the Bahamas and California, and hopes to visit India soon.
